Easter Recap

Easter Sunday involved church...just church for three of us and really super long and tiring church for the two church workers in the family.
 But in the end?

Jesus has risen.  Tired or not.

The clansmen from the next city over arrived for lunch, complete with their own tiredness (they are church workers, too) and the required bunny cake which was decorated by two rather talented cake decorators.

I personally love the spaghetti whiskers.

Matthew (and his girlfriend, Bri) had the job this year of hiding eggs for the big hunt for two reasons...1) he's still my kid which means I can still boss him around and I don't see that changing anytime in the next 40 or so years and 2) the adults were all well into a pitcher of Sangria and the idea of hiding eggs wasn't a high priority.

Our family?

We're all kinda weird.

Easter this year was different food wise...instead of ham (which I personally love but not all my male species do) we grilled pizzas of all sorts of flavors.  Think grilled eggplant with pesto, fresh mozzarella, gorgonzola and pine nuts.  And sausage with grilled peppers and onions dolloped with homemade herbed ricotta. And proscuitto, shaved parm, arugula drizzled with olive oil and balsamic.  And a few others I can't remember off hand...along with a big 'ole tossed salad on the side.

Oh, and another pitcher of Sangria.

The weather?  Perfectly sunny and warm.

The bunny cake was devoured as well and I gotta say, being an aunt is fun.  Want the nose?  No problema!

The only thing missing was a nap or two but otherwise it was lovely and loud and low key.

Thankful.
